WOW! Such a great establishment. It's very easy to skip this place, located in the plaza with Yoko's sushi. Ms Muna, owner of this quaint restaurant and main cook was present when we dined on Saturday.
Pros:
* parking spots galore
* unlimited sampling to help you make the right choice
* amazing prices
* BIG portions
* very flavorful Lebanese/Syrian food.
Cons:
* not many seating available
* high carb intake ( i was bloated for the rest of the day lol)
Overall, fantastic flavors. My friend and I got the 5 item platter and falafel sandwich + 2 water for $27. Not too shabby for South Tampa. I'll surely be back for more. -

We drove down to The Mediterranean Chickpea to meet a friend and try out a new-to-us spot for falafel. We are crazy about falafel.
The owners were very friendly and personable and went through their entire menu with us and explained how they make their many flavors of hummus. They have something like 5 or 7 different flavors. I had the cilantro and jalapeno hummus in my falafel sandwich and it totally hit the spot. If I didn't know better I'd think they made it with me in mind. Absolutely perfect. The falafel in my wrap was cooked to crispy perfection and all the ingredients were fresh, crispy, and delicious. This was the highest quality falafel wrap I've had in a long time.
The restaurant itself was sparkling clean, as was the restroom. I truly enjoyed my food and the little bit of conversation we had with the owners. They are Syrian so this is authentic, real deal middle eastern food by folks who know what's what.
5 healthy stars across the board. -

I'm so happy we found this cute little restaurant! We arrived around 5.30pm on a Tuesday, so there weren't any other patrons at that time. The owners greeted us happily and offered samples of the beets, quinoa, and moussaka. All three were so fresh and delicious! I especially loved the quinoa. I ordered a falafel wrap with babaganoush, which is huge and costs $9.00. It was absolutely perfect. The falafel was hot and tasty, not too dry, or oily, or salty. The babaganoush was fantastic - very flavorful!
My boyfriend also got a falafel wrap, but with jalapeno cilantro hummus. He is usually of the mind that a falafel sandwich shouldn't cost more than $6.00, but he was very happy with this one and felt it was well worth the price. He loved the jalapeno cilantro hummus, and I think he'll definitely want to come here again for that. I can't wait to try their other options next time!
The owners were so very pleasant and enthusiastic. The dining area was clean and bright, and the restroom was also clean. It's such a cute little place. There isn't much seating, just a few small tables that seat 2 to 3 people and a counter with some stools. Parking may sometimes be an issue because it's in a small plaza off MacDill with a number of other restaurants/business. We were there well before typical dinner time and there was only one spot left open in the entire lot after we parked.
Go here! You won't be disappointed! -

Possibly the best Mediterranean vegetarian options in Tampa Bay! Great food that is healthy for you!
We stumbled upon this just a week ago when we drove past it. This place is a true gem. It's family owned and they cater as well. The family is very kind, even allowing us to eat dinner before paying. Customer service is amazing here.
100% handmade and everything is fresh. A family owned business. And great food.
5 or 6 types of hummus-- we tried them all. We recommend the jalapeño cilantro or red pepper hummus, but the beet hummus was delicious. This is no store bought hummus, this is real preservative free stuff.
We tried the spinach pie, which is made of welted spinach, diced onions and a hint of lemon, in a baked crust. It was an instant hit.
We had the lentil soup-- but know, there are two types. 1 is a crushed lentil soup and the other is a whole lentil and kale soup. Both are wonderful.
The falafel wrap is a true falafel in every way. Anyone who has had a real falafel knows what I'm talking about. You get your choice of hummus and it comes with all the veggies. Also, it's almost a foot long, so come hungry.
The also sell various fresh pita breads and they have combo platters, which we plan to try in the future.
For the amount of food you get for the price, this place offers amazing food at a great value.
I highly recommend Mediterranean Chickpea! -

Very cute little place in a strip mall. Delicious, fresh Mediterranean food. Baba ganoush, fatoush, lime cilantro hummus...lots to choose from. We got a bowl that was 5 choices from everything on the menu with a huge pita bread. The owner is very friendly and helpful, gave us a few extra dollops of the salads. Just a couple of tables and a counter for seating, but pleasant and clean. Wish I had a place like this in my neighborhood, I'd never cook.
Prices are reasonable.
